Fabric Covered Letter

As I sit in Rae’s room rocking her to sleep (which btw, has become my favorite thing to do), I have plenty of time to look around and come up with ideas to make.  I have a list so stay tuned.  I inventory the materials I have and create ideas.  This is the latest.

This is budget friendly (free to me) and only takes a few materials.

Materials: cardboard (I used a diaper box), scrap fabric, glue gun, pencil, scissors (use separate scissors for fabric and other things).

I have access to plenty of diaper boxes, so I grabbed one before I threw it out and cut out the side.

Next I drew out my letter, an “R” for Rae of course.  I had to draw and erase to make it look like I wanted it, and it still isn’t perfect, but it’s a good thing I like a “homemade” look.

Cut out your letter.

And you can also see my fabric scraps.  I used different purples, and cut them in about 1 inch wide strips.  You’re going to be wrapping the fabric so size really doesn’t matter here,

Use a dot of your glue to secure a starting point and begin wrapping, gluing the end of the strip.  Continue this wrapping process, cutting fabric to fit as needed.  I tried to only glue on the back of the letter.

You’ll end up with something that looks like this.

DSC_2670I used some purple ribbon and tied it to her closet door.

Very simple but we like it  It adds a little more color to her room. Plus, monograms and initials are all over the place now.  Just use what you have on hand to make one, and make it your own.  You can see another use of cardboard into letter here.

And because this is all for little Rae here she is…

May Birchbox

I received my latest Birchbox and wanted to share it with you!  I love to see what other bloggers get in their Birchbox, so I guess I am assuming you all want to see what I got in mine!

First of all, the box this month was inspired by Gossip Girl.  I don’t watch Gossip Girl, but it doesn’t matter, my loot was good!

Here you have Bvlgari Eau de Toilette Spray.  Smells pretty good, and with all my perfume samples I’ll never have to buy perfume again.

Fresh Tinted Lip Treatment.  I actually already have this and I love it!  I was happy to receive another to throw in my purse!  It’s seriously good.  Feels like chap stick with a tint!

Kiehl’s Abyssine Cream.  I’m excited to try this.  It’s an anti-aging moisturizer, and as a 30ish something, I need to pay more attention to these types of products.  (Although I did recently get carded twice in one weekend…)

Miracle Skin Transformer.  This is a tinted treatment that erases blemishes and scars on arms, and legs.  Also excited to see how much I can erase on my body…

And a cute notecard.  (Birchbox extra)

So I added my empty box to the stack I have in my bathroom cabinets (great storage cause they are all the same size) and set all my products out to get ready to use.

If you don’t have Birchbox you’re missing out.  It’s so much fun and only $10.00 a month!  Now they have Birchbox Man, which you can read about here.  Kevin enjoyed getting it and likes his products.

In other mail related news, along with my Birchbox I also received my InStyle mag!  And then UPS came and delivered my new fabric from Mood!  Good mail day!  (Stay tuned for what I’m making with the fabric…)

Happy Friday!!

Fabric Covered Bracelet

I was looking through some jewelry the other day and found a gold bangle that I haven’t worn in quite some time.  (It wasn’t real gold) and it was starting to look kinda cheap.  So, since I love to cover things in fabric, you can see what I mean here, here, and here I decided to fabric my bracelet.  I had everything on hand, fabric, spray adhesive and the bracelet.

I cut a piece to fit around the bracelet, and wide enough to fold over on the inside.  I grabbed my spray and took it outside.

I ended up with this.

That’s the bracelet drying on top of the adhesive.  Seemed like a good idea. It was still pretty wet from the adhesive.

After it dried it turned out pretty well!

Plus I like polka dots right now.

This is leftover fabric I used to make a bag I mentioned here.  I’ll be blogging about that soon.

On a completely different subject, who watches Downton Abbey?  I’ve been obsessed.  I’m halfway through season 2, and cannot wait to try to fit in an episode each evening.   Let’s discuss!
